President's Corner

Things are starting to heat up on activities associated with the feasibility study of a new home at Gastonia airport - "The Best 3,750 ft Airport on the East Coast!". A finance committee and a building committee have been formed and we are looking at size, features, construction options, etc. The assumption has been made that we will build on the existing 'Community Hangar' concrete pad which is about 80 ft square. This is close to the FBO office and fronts onto the main ramp. A list of potential building and door suppliers is being developed and information on permitting issues is being gathered. It will be a little time before we can have a recommendation to bring to the chapter membership but we hope that we can have something to present at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2005 at the latest. If you have any suggestions or contribution to make to the effort, please contact the following members.

Finance Committee :- Kevin Cromie, Ken Poindexter, Sam Stewart
Building Committee :- David Borders, Ronnie Brown, Wally Overton, Ray Petty, Jim Schnicker, John Wigney
In the meantime, we have our usual schedule of chapter activities and the next significant item will be the 'Homebuilders Workshop' on March 5th at the CHAC hangar. Contact Bob Thayer for details.

Cheers - John Wigney

Please remember - send your 2005 dues ($25) to Kevin Cromie - see page 7.
