MINUTES
MEETING: CHAPTER 309
MAY 16, 2005
The meeting was called to
order by President Wigney. He
introduced John Crouse who would speak to the chapter later in the meeting, and
Dan Phillipi . Dan is from Mt. Holly
and owns a PA28. Dan joined the chapter
this evening.
President Wigney itemized the
evening’s agenda which included:
(1) A vote on changes to our By Laws
(2) The proposal to build a chapter hangar
(3) Discussion of the upcoming fly-in
(4) John Crouse speaking on a review of recent accidents
(5) Harold Ramsey: Tools to be given away
The proposed changes in the
By Laws were presented along with the reasons for their being proposed. The changes are a part of our request for
tax exempt status where the title of the chapter will in the future read:
Chapter 309 of EAA, Inc. This wording must be used in all official documents. A motion to approve the By Law changes was
made and seconded. These changes were
approved unanimously by voice vote.
The proposed hangar project
was presented by President Wigney. The
materials associated with this proposal were distributed earlier to all members
including the anticipated cost, methods for financing the project, and reasons
for undertaking this project. It was
made clear that the building of this facility will not alter the Chapter’s
announced practice of having meetings dispersed through out the membership
area. After a lengthy discussion a
motion to approve the proposal was made and seconded. The motion was voted via a paper ballot. The motion passed with
32 votes in favor and 4 votes against.
The totals included nine votes submitted via e-mail.
It was announced that the new
T-hangars at Rowan County airport will not have either water or sewer. There are still some available at the
meeting time.
There was a suggestion that
the June 11 fly-in have all attendees sign in and that a raffle or a cash prize
be awarded at the fly-in. The drawing
will be at 10:30 am.
President Wigney asked Harold
Ramsey if the topic of the tools could be presented at another meeting due to
the time.
John Crouse of the FAA
presented information of several recent crashes/accidents which have occurred
in our area. He announced that while
2004 was a good year safety wise, 2005 is off to a very bad start. Questions and answers followed each accident
cited.
The meeting adjourned at 8:55
pm.
Respectively submitted
