EAA CHAPTER 309

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES

JANUARY 8, 2007

The meeting was convened at 7:00 PM on January 8, 2007, at Randy Utsey’s office, DJ Distributing Company, 1429 Bryant St., Charlotte, NC 28208.

Personnel present were: John Wigney, John Schroeder, Ronnie Brown, Bob Thayer, Bob Allen, Bob Dobbins, Dale Ensing, Bill Repucci, Tad Sargent and Randy Utsey.

President Bill Repucci distributed an agenda for the meeting and a tentative schedule for events in 2007 as attached.

Retiring President John Wigney presented the following observations and recommendations developed during his tenure as President to the Board:

The following was then discussed.

I. No decision has yet been made regarding whether or not to make a chapter project of the Kit Fox.

II. There was a question whether or not it would be desirable to handle Young Eagle events as separate activities from other events because classroom sessions may be worthwhile and it takes about a half-hour per airplane load for rides. Bill Repucci will contact the coordinator, Don Sink, to determine his thoughts and Bob Dobbins will also work further with Don.

III. Bill Repucci submitted the attached financial report since Treasurer Sam Stewart was away on business.

IV. Bob Allen will work with Sam Stewart to determine the feasibility of bringing the Ford Tri-motor to the Charlotte area as an event.

V. John Wigney has a meeting planned for later in January on the proposed chapter facility, and this project is making positive progress.

VI. It was reiterated that the Board had previously decided to charge equal rent to all groups for use of the equipment in the trailer and that the fees were dependent upon whether or not the cooker was used.

VII. Bill Repucci will contact Ron Murray to determine if Ron would be willing to act in the capacity of General Event Coordinator for 2007.

VIII. It is desirable for the chapter to conduct courses and training events such as  flying competitions involving dead reckoning with the possibility of inviting other chapters and local ground schools to attend. Ron Utsey volunteered to work on this.

IX. There was an indecisive discussion pertaining to recognition of key personnel involving the proposed chapter facility and how to assure that the entire chapter is geographically well served.

X. Bob Thayer reported that he was working with the Mooresville Rescue Squad to provide some training regarding dealing with aircraft accidents.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:12 PM.
