Christmas Dinner on 12.11.06

Ronnie Brown reviewed details prepared by Ravi Thakkar who was delayed in traffic.

• Acropolis restaurant, Cornelius
• Cost of meal $20 to 25 (now settled at $20.00)
• Streamlined Chinese auction, 1 item per couple
• Long tables with seating assignments, avoid use of booths.
• Cash bar and appetizers at 7 pm before meal at 7:30 pm.

Lake Norman Airpark Workshop/Clubhouse facility

The notes from the building sub-committee were reviewed. Ref JRW/061031a-Notes from Clubhouse meeting. No problems were seen with the recommendations on layout, and architectural details. This information will be shared with Butch Stevens when the project is launched. Purchase of the site still awaits resolution of the estate by the family.

Suggestion by Wally Overton that use of money from sale of RV6A project should be for projects only was discussed. It was pointed out that for the Gastonia project, all the chapter money was assigned to the building construction and this was approved by the membership. Consensus was that the money from the RV6A sale is part of the chapter account and should not be treated separately. Decisions of this nature are part of the board responsibilities and the board should wisely assign chapter funds to projects, buildings or other items as and where necessary with appropriate input and review with the membership.

If the Lake Norman project proceeds as planned, the treasurer will contact all donors and bond holders who contributed to the original Gastonia project to determine if they wish to have the money returned.

501(c)3 Status and Reporting

Sam Stewart will be meeting with an accountant to get recommendations on records and filing requirements.

EAA Ford Trimotor visit

This visit is tentatively scheduled for 2007. No timing has been set. Majority of proceeds from flights goes to EAA HQ, remainder goes to EAA 309. No decision to support this visit was made at the meeting. A decision was deferred to the incoming board.

Rules for Rent of Trailer

It was agreed that since members were expected to pay for the rental of the trailer, it was inappropriate to allow free use by any organization or person for whatever reason.

2007 Events

Possible events for 2007 were discussed. Don Sink has a contact who was a pilot on Airforce 1 and could give a talk. Tom Waskow is an ex Vietnam pilot who has a talk on Red Eagles – Ronnie Brown is contact.
