Hangar alternatives and next steps

Various items from the previous meeting on 8.2.06 were reviewed.

  1. Hangar at Gastonia adjacent to FBO office Sam Stewart has discussed and advises that this hangar is not available.

  1. Ray Petty hangar at Gastonia Sam has followed up with Ray. Ray intends to vacate this lot and is willing to consider offers. Timing could be later in 2007. If no buyer is found, Ray may remove the hangar before his lease expires.

  1. Goose Creek  Dale Ensing advised that he had spoken with Mike Dic. Space available is very limited. No space for planes and no space for cars. Only probable option is on south side of field where property is in the hands of another landowner.

  1. Bradford Field Bill Repucci advised that putting any facility into Bradford would probably be difficult since Huntersville city does not look favorably on small aircraft activities.

  1. Lake Norman Airpark Don Sink has had conversation with Butch Stevens (Airpark Residents’ Assoc. Pres.). Butch is willing to work with EAA 309 and provide space at a favorable rate in a hangar which is in the early concept stage. Hangar depends on negotiations for land with existing owners and assistance from EAA 309 was suggested if chapter is interested.

  1. Jack Roush assistance Butch Stevens conversation with Don Sink indicated that all Roush properties are rented or leased and that it was unlikely that any space would be available.

  1. Wilgrove  Dale Ensing advised that Wilgrove has a hangar waiting list. Small meeting room (10 people) possibly available. Better situation than Goose Creek but not known if land is available

  1. Laneys Field  Howard Cochrane contact by Don Sink indicated that Charles Laney will be willing to work with EAA 309. Max. size of any building at existing runway is 40 ft x 60 ft., but no power is available. There are a number of future lots which are planned along the new East/West runway, tentative pricing on these lots is $35,000.

  1. New Suggestion – CHAC Hangar Bob Thayer advised that CHAC has plans to erect a new hangar which has been donated after being dismantled at another location. Bob suggested that CHAC could be interested in providing space for EAA 309 if the chapter would provide assistance in the build. It was noted that this would provide an almost identical setup to the previous arrangement at CHAC but the space would be permanently assigned to EAA 309 and could possibly be enclosed. Bob Thayer was asked to follow up to determine details.
