EAA 309 CHAPTER
NOVEMBER 21, 2005

The monthly meeting of Chapter 309 EAA was called to order by President John Wigney at the Open Kitchen in Charlotte, NC at 7:20 pm.  There were 18 members and guests present.  The following items were brought to the attention of the Chapter members.

Fall Fly-In Awards:
Classic:   C-170 …..Jeff (Dewey) Jenkins and Roy Brown
        Homebuilt: RV-8.…Steve Glasgow
   War Bird :L-19.……Breece Nesbitt

Hangar:
President Wigney stated that the structural drawings were on hand and that they will be evaluated with several construction companies.  Bidding will be done after these evaluations.  Sam Stewart reported that so far 16 members have made contributions to the financial phase.  We have $2500 in donations and $6100 in bonds.  A member is considering a major donation.  These amounts coupled with our $27,000 in the bank yields a current total of approximately $45,000 on hand or about 65% of the budget.  There are others who have indicated they will be participating but would like to wait until the request for 501(c)3 status has been resolved.

Hangar Rules:

Rules for use of the hangar were discussed at the last Board Meeting and the Board felt that the question of how and for whom access will be provided should be a decision of the membership.  Discussion brought consensus on equal access by all members.  It was also agreed that there has to be secured storage for tools, parts, etc.  for projects in progress.  Suggestions included a key pad security system or a lock system.  A motion to approve equal access passed unanimously.

December Dinner Meeting.  The December Dinner meeting will be held at the Acropolis in Cornelius on December 12 at 7:00 pm. As was done last year all members are to bring a gift for exchange.  If possible the gifts should have an aviation connection.  The event will cost $25.00 per individual and is inclusive with the exception of alcoholic beverages.

Bill Wilson of Lincolnton was introduced as a new member.  He will retire in January and will keep a flight school active at IPJ.  He will build a single seat Thatcher CX4 which is LSA eligible for Sport Flight instruction. See www.thatchercx4.com   Dave Thatcher and Chris Hudson were introduced as guests.

Nominations: The nominations of Dale Ensing and John Schroeder were presented for Board membership.  A motion to approve these nominations was passed unanimously.   The Chapter By-Laws require that the positions of VP currently held by Ravi Thakkar and Treasurer, now held by Kevin Cromie be filled.  Neither of these two are eligible for re-election to their current position.  President Wigney asked the nomination committee and Board members to provide suggestions for candidates for these two positions.

A raffle held during the meeting netted $22 for the chapter treasury.

The business meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.

Ronnie Brown brought a video which presented excerpts from a  weekly EAA show entitled "Wings to Adventure" .  Our thanks to Ronnie for the program  which was enjoyed by all.
