MEETING: CHAPTER 309

MONDAY, FEBRUARY  21, 2005

 

 The February meeting of Chapter 309 EAA was held at the Prime Sirloin Steak House in Cornelius with the meeting being called to order at 7:20 pm by President John Wigney. 

 

Ravi Thakkar and Ken Poindexter gave some further information on the proposed Poker Run.  Craig Libby indicated that Thunder Charity works with many charities  and proposes that the Poker Run consist of stops at 4-5 airports and draw cards at each airport.  A portion of all proceeds will go to Young Eagles.  It was also announced that on June 11 there will be a charity motorcycle ride in Charlotte and it is proposed that aircraft be displayed at the Corner of Trade and Tryon streets.  Mr. Libby expressed  that we indicate what we may be interested in displaying. 

 

John Wigney distributed a questionnaire from Embry Riddle  asking for responses related to GPS usage.  He also reported  on progress on the hangar project.  There are a number of problems to be worked out.  Kevin Cromie encouraged that members complete a questionnaire indicating their anticipated usage of the proposed chapter hangar.  This will have a major impact on the level of project we may be able to undertake. 

 

The next event for Chapter 309 will be the Taildragger Flyin scheduled for lake Norman Airport on March 19. 

 

As of this date there are no enrollees for the scheduled workshop on aircraft construction to be held  at the Carolina Air Museum on March 5. 

 

Ravi Thakkar announced that a copy of   KITLOG PRO has been donated to the Chapter.  He proposes that it be raffled at the next  meeting. 

 

Not all members have paid 2005 dues!!!

 

Dr. Charles Lutin, accompanied by his son Daniel, led a  discussion of the FAA and physical exams.  Dr. Lutin is a FAA physician and a Medical Examiner as well as an emergency physician.    He is also a home builder with a Glassaire underway at his home.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
