501(c)(3) tax free charity status
The chapter has received approval from the IRS for its tax free status application. The effective date is 5.18.05 so that donations made last year to the hangar project are deductible. Sam Stewart will send acknowledgements to all donors. Form 990 will have to be filed with the IRS by 4.15.06.
Hangar status
The electrical drawing has now been completed with Charlie Hall’s help and is being incorporated into the full package by Wally Overton. A small amount of CAD work remains. As soon as this is done, bids will be obtained.
Sam Stewart and Kevin Cromie are working on the business plan outline which will be required for our bank loan application. Current assumptions are that a loan of $22,300 will be required. It was noted that property taxes might be waived for a charity organization; Sam Stewart will check into this. Some contact has been made lately with Gastonia regarding the lease application which is awaited from the city.
There was a brief discussion regarding possible use of hangar lifts to increase space usage. This can be reviewed when the hangar is in operation.
